To update your instrument’s firmware, follow these steps:
1. Connect your DTP41 to a serial port on your Macintosh or Windows machine.
2. Run the X-Rite® ToolCrib application located in the Misc Tools folder and select the appropriate serial port.
3. Select Firmware Loader from the Tools menu.
4. Click Select File. From the Open File dialog, choose the “.s19” file contained in this directory.
5. Click Load to begin the update. DO NOT attempt to do anything else with your PC while the firmware is loading. Some applications can interrupt the load process causing the update to fail.
6. Calibrate your instrument.
Update is unsuccessful...
If the firmware download failed and your instrument’s LED is green, your instrument is OK.
This means that the failure occurred before the update started or after it was finished. If your instrument’s LED is red, you must attempt the update again, without unplugging the instrument, just restart the application.
DO NOT unplug the instrument when the red LED is on . The LED will turn green when complete.

Where do I find a copy of the D421 firmware for my dtp41? bennettmarks439@gmail.com
ReplyDeleteHave included the download link.
ReplyDeleteThank you very much. Really appreciate this!!
ReplyDeleteMy dtp41b/t is running version 422. Does that indicate that it is a series II?
ReplyDeletePositive. For series II, the interface cable supports both RS232 & USB connection.
ReplyDeletePlease is possible re-upload de files? I'm see this message: "You do not have permission to view this directory or page."

ReplyDeleteThe update was successful, but still can not calibrate the equipment, the LED is flashing orange. Anyone know what happens? I'm going crazy for two weeks .... 6 months ago not use without problems.
Tks.
I would like to suggest the followings:
Delete1) Do a factory reset to revert the instrument to factory default.
2) Check the motor speed with ToolCrib, the command is 02DM. The default is 1.2
3) Do a motor calibration with ToolCrib, the command is CM for calibrating drive motor and CR for calibrating Reflectance.
If they can be performed successfully, do a CU (=CM+CR)
4) You may like to test it by lowering the motor speed to 1.0 with the command 1.00DM
Do note that the starting position of the calibration strip is (always) critical, so watch out.
Good luck.

Hello again, after upgrading to firmware version D421 and update the program to version 5.0 ToolCrib, I get this error when calibrating: "Unable to perform calibration. Instrument Error. Status Code 0x27: Bad Readings."
ReplyDeleteThe communication between the device and the computer / software looks good, since I Xrite Switzerland have said they no longer support this product, honestly I'm a little desperate and no longer do.
Thank you very much.
Hello!
ReplyDeleteI tried to update the firmware of my DTP-41 - and it failed permanentely.
Now I can´t even reset the device to factory defaults. Do you have any suggestions how to solve the issue?
Thanks in advance!
I have exactly the same problem. I can't even get into the
Deletetool section to reset. My DTP41 just sets there with a twitching green light and no way to connect. I think it is
going to take a hard boot but have no information on how to do that or what connections are needed. If you hear anything please let me know.
